This will work for anyone who has their own e-mail list, no matter what the product.

Actually you can use it with other people’s e-mail lists too but I’ll save how to do that for another day.

This is an e-mail campaign that I call the 4 day thankyou.

It has been adapted from Frank Kern, and full credit goes to him ( although I think he swiped it from his cousin Trey.)

Anyway, frank is a good guy and I’m sure he won’t mind me passing this idea along for free.

It’s good karma for both of us.

You can open the campaign and after you’ve had a look at it I’ll explain a little about it below.

Ok, the campaign runs for 4 days , every day, 1 e-mail per day.

You can use it for absolutely any product you’ve got.

You can adapt it for your own business and products but don’t change the format, structure and wording too much if you can help it.

I’ve used the {firstname_fix} in the e-mail subject lines and in the opening of the e-mail but it’s not necessary.

You can do it without personalisation if you want to.

Ideally the landing page that you direct people to will follow on a little bit and will mention the discount.

It’s ideal if you can edit your landing page or do a special one for this offer.

If you can’t then just make sure everything is set up to give them a discount on the price.

I think that’s about it…….

It may conjure up images of stock market crashes, or tax increases or something similar.

But it is not a bad thing at all, and for those of us engaged in internet and e-mail marketing it is a golden opportunity to make a bit of extra money.

So for those us not based in the US ( we are in the UK ) here is a quick explanation of black friday and what it means for your online business :

Black Friday is the day that follows American thanksgiving, which is always on a Thursday.

The term black is not a negative thing but a positve as it refers to the term ” in the black” as in, making a profit.

This is because our american friends generally get treated to a sales bonanza on that day.

Stores refer to this as ” the start of the holiday shopping” season and generally have thanksgiving sales and use it as the first day for christmas sales.

So American consumers the length and breadth of the nation are heading out to the shops to get their hands on some big discounts.

It’s part of the culture and tradition to head out to the shops and get some spending done. ( I know this because I lived in the states for five years and I was out to the sales on black friday like a kid in a candy shop.)

So with the birth of the internet , online business owners like us now have another opportunity to throw a discount sale and get some people shopping with us on this salestastic day.

Whether you are in London or Lagos, Boston or Barcelona , if you have an online business ( and especially with some american cutomers ) then you have a great opportunity to throw a sale and make some money.

Especially us e-mail marketers , send an offer out to your list offering big savings on black friday and see what happens.

Or we create a special family and friends list for it to perform this way.

I’m inclined to think it’s the former.

So give it a go.

Send your list a special discount holiday offer, with the title ” family and friends special offer. ”

Give them a deadline to create a little bit of urgency to take action and off you go.

Easy peasy.
