How To Use Video To Promote Your Internet Business.

According to this article on Internet Video Marketing, The Pew Research Center reports that since 2006, the number of adults watching videos online has nearly doubled.

And , that the use of video sharing sites outranks many other internet pastimes for adults. ( The figures are american but it’s a pretty safe bet that they carry across the board if you are not based in america. Like me )

The watching of videos on sites like youtube is more popular than using social networking sites.

And, if you target young people in your business, the numbers are even more astonishing, with 89% of internet users between 18 and 29 watching videos online.

So what does this mean for you if you have a home internet business ?

After all you probably don’t want to post videos of yourself dancing to silly songs and painting rude words on your friends face while he sleeps.

And while video sharing sites such as Youtube can be used for these clearly effective internet business tactics, with a little refining , you can use video sharing sites as a cheap and simple way to bring in targeted visitors to your website and online business.

Firstly, I know that not everyone is comfortable in front of a video camera.

Not everyone wants to put themselves forward as an expert by forward talking about their market or business.

Some people love it. Some are shameless self promoters ( not in a bad way ) and have no problems getting in front of the camera to promote themselves or their businesses.

Think Tony Robbins or Richard Branson and you will know that these are not two people you would accuse of being camera shy.

But there are many ways you can use to promote your business with video.

And remember it’s free.

You can upload your videos to youtube for free and there are programs out there such as Traffic Geyser that will even upload your video to all of the video sharing sites for you at the touch of a button. ( although that service is not free.

If you don’t have any video reciording equipment you can get some cheaply , that will be more than adequate for youtube videos.

Remember, this is not a Hollywood production, although you may not want a grainy, jerky video taken straight from your phone representing you and your business either.

So what ways can you use video to promote your site ??

Well firstly,  is a simple introduction to yourself and your site or business.

You can put this on your website first and upload it to video sharing sites such as Youtube if you’re comfortable to do so.

just an introduction to you , your site and your business will go a long way towards building trust in your prospects eyes.

Especially if they can see you and you are talking to the camera as if you are addressing them personally.

Remember one of the biggest barriers to making money on the internet is still trust.

There are still scams and unscrupulous operators online and just showing yourself to be a real person that has taken the time to introduce yourself and your business can go a long way to establishing trust.

The same goes for making sales.

A lot of internet marketers are now foregoing the usual long copy sales letter to sell their products and are replacing it with video.

With very good results.

Think about it, what are you more likely to do , read a long, boring sales letter or watch a video?

Many of them are blending their sales message in with entertainment, telling a story about themselves, an amusing anecdote that illustrates their point and keeps you entertained as they give you a glimse into their real lives and their world.

Let’s face it, as humans we can’t help it.

We love real life stuff.

There must be something coded in our DNA.

Why do you think reality TV shows are so popular?

We love to be entertained first and foremost.

Wrap your sales message up in a funny story, that shows them how they can benefit from what you have.

Many marketers now , weave in different places and characters from their real lives as part of their sales message.

It keeps people entertained and then the selling is not so blatant.

I’m not saying you have to do this because it isn’t for everyone.

If you don’t fancy being on camera, you can always do an instruction series video on a topic related to your product or market.

Just get some screen capture software and create an informative series of helpful videos.

Then you don’t have to show your face in the videos if you don’t want and you can even get someone else to do the voice over if you are a bit shy.

Camtasia is a good software for internet video marketing that you can get a free trial of.

Remember to keyword optimise your title and tags when you upload to the video sharing sites.

Google loves video and even ranks well optimised videos on it’s search results pages, so do your keyword research before uploading your video.

Remember , good videos go viral and that’s where they get the traffic. If you can entertain and deliver quality content at the same time you are off to a good start.
