It may conjure up images of stock market crashes, or tax increases or something similar.
But it is not a bad thing at all, and for those of us engaged in internet and e-mail marketing it is a golden opportunity to make a bit of extra money.
So for those us not based in the US ( we are in the UK ) here is a quick explanation of black friday and what it means for your online business :
Black Friday is the day that follows American thanksgiving, which is always on a Thursday.
The term black is not a negative thing but a positve as it refers to the term ” in the black” as in, making a profit.
This is because our american friends generally get treated to a sales bonanza on that day.
Stores refer to this as ” the start of the holiday shopping” season and generally have thanksgiving sales and use it as the first day for christmas sales.
So American consumers the length and breadth of the nation are heading out to the shops to get their hands on some big discounts.
It’s part of the culture and tradition to head out to the shops and get some spending done. ( I know this because I lived in the states for five years and I was out to the sales on black friday like a kid in a candy shop.)
So with the birth of the internet , online business owners like us now have another opportunity to throw a discount sale and get some people shopping with us on this salestastic day.
